I currently have a sixline wrasse, ocellaris, clownfish, green clown goby, engineer goby, and a coral banded shrimp and various hermit crabs Any problems keeping a clam with these tankmates.

thanks
Ryan

imo most clams will not thrive without MH lighting.but the derasa seems to do better under lower intensity than MH type lighting.maxima's need MH.

i have T5 and my crocea is happy...so they need metal halide is false...4x54 Tek fixture..

Do you have individual reflectors???if so likely can...if not i would say no....what bulbs do you have ?? is it a retro or a fixture....what brand??

normally driven or overly driven ...lots of variable to t5's which determine whether you can or not...

in terms of keeping it with your existing live stock...absolutely

Pics are with 1.3 megpixel...camera older than my dogs(they are 4 and 5 years old) so pics dont pop the color but the clam looks great...at least from the pics you can tell it is healthy

so much for the MH only blasphemy....depends on the details of your T5's...answer my q's in previous post an dill tell you whether you can and if you cant what you should do to correct it

It is a fixture. actually 2 fixtures. one being the nova extreme 39x4 36 and the other is a coralife 2x18 t-5 that came with the tank.

here is a crocea under halides

by the way my mantle extends another 2-3"....it closes up some when i take a pic due to the flash so dont be so quick to jump on that.....ill turn the flash off and see if i can get full extension to quell that comment

anyways...i dont think that is gonna be enough light unless you put it like an inch or two away from the surface...

not having ind. reflectors is a real killer...that is the problem with the Nova....this is why i would say you wont have enough PAR...

maybe...and maybe....if your tank is less than 18" deep you might pull it off but certainly not on the bottom

I am not dead set on getting a clam and wont be getting one anytime soon if i decide to. They just interest me. i got the Nova because i didnt want to do a retro or build a canopy and the price was in my budget. it was either that or pc's. and i figured the t-5 were better than the pc's.

was the Tek fixture from SLS that much more expensive????

i say give it a shot..keep it high in the tank.....start it low of course so it can acclimate....how tall is the tank from the top of the sand bed to the surface and how high are the T5s off the surface

it was about 90.00 more and looks like it needs to be hung from something. i wanted one that i could just set on the tank. it is only a few inches off the tank.
