Clam wouldn't release SPS from its mouth

Greeting,

Last night one of my SPS fell/knock down and about 1/2" fell into the clam mouth. The clam clamped down on the coral and would not let go. How can I get it to release the coral without harming either one?

turn the clam upside down so that when it tries to open the frag will fall out. if its right side up every time the clam tries to open the frag falls into the clam and the clam snaps shut again

I guess the clam got tired of clamping down, when I came home from work, the SPS was out of its mouth and both looked fine.
