i have never kept clams before and will soon be upgrading my lighting. im planning on using a 150 or 250w 200000k halide with 2 t5 marine whites. which clams will be suitable in these conditions?

The bulb choice is going to depend upon the size of your tank. If you tank is 18 inches high or smaller you would be okay with 150's, but if it's taller than that you should go with the 250's for better light penetration. You will be able to keep any clams you want with those lights with the right water conditions of course. I would recommend going with 10K bulbs with T5 actinics. Clams prefer the higher kelvin bulbs and you will get better intensity with 10K bulbs. There are people who keep clams under 20K, but many of the experts say that clams need the higher kelvin bulbs.
