clams under t5s?

Ok I know there's probably a lot of posts about this but I'm curious. I have a 29 gallon standard glass tank with a 4 bulb t5 fixture on it(3.3 wpg if that matters), and I'm curious if I can keep any type of clam. I've read maximas and derasas are a bit more light forgiving, but am I able to do it I'm my tank? And if so what kind and where would I place it(sand or rocks and how high)? Thank you

Are the T-5s on individual reflectors? I had a crocea clam under 8 T-5s and it eventually browned out. I've heard derasas are ok under t-5.

I have a crocea clam about 12 inches below an aquactinics T5 with five bulbs. Its been about 3 months and its doing great. This light does have individual reflectors.

i have keep several Crocea Clams under t5ho fixtures and they did great. make sure that the Clam is keep up higher in the tank 12-20 inches from the fixture. i had one like 30 inches from the fixture and it did start to loss it color and i moved it up and it regainged its color.

I have a derasa on the sandbed (~22" from the surface) under 6 T5's with individual reflectors and it is just fine.

I have had a crocea about halfway down in a 30" tall tank for about a year under 7 T5 bulbs, all with individual reflectors. The color has maintained nicely and it's growing well.

I've kept several T. maximas, several T. croceas, 1 T. squamosa and 2 T. derasas, under T5HO for up to 4 years. Color never faded at all.

With individual reflectors OR ICR (individually contoured reflectors) and with enough bulb coverage, you can grow anything you want, under T5HOs.

However, I do not feel that your 4 bulbs are quite enough. If you do try it, I'd suggest Derasas, as they're the least light demanding. They're also a sand dwelling clam. If you go with Maximas, they're rock dwelling clams, which is good, since they're also more light demanding and you can put them higher in your tank. Also, flow is important. They need to be protected from a lot of flow. If the flow is constantly buffeting the mantle, it's too much flow. If the mantle is gently flickering, once in awhile, and still most of the time, you've got the flow just right.

i currently hv 6 clams (2 derasas, a maximas and 2 croceas) under 6x54w t5 in my 72. they hv been in the my tank the past 2 years. ur fixture is fine over a 29. just make sure water parameters r good.

I have 2 Crocea's and 2 Maxima's on the sand under 8 80 watt individually reflected T5s in an 18 inch deep tank. Not only are they not fading, they are coloring up nicely.

I too share the same i had two maximas one crocea and one squamosa under t5's in an 18 in deep tank and they all did very well.
