Clams under V.H.O.

my friend has a 75 gallon tank with 4 110W VHOs with clams up the wazoo. mostly croceas, but he does have some huge maximas with 8 growth rings since he put them in there over a year ago. so, lighting, not normally a problem. but what works with one is disaster for another. just make sure he doesn't gape.

I had a Crocea in a 90 under 4 VHOs. It did grew very well, but I had it up high in the rock work. The colors got a bit nicer when I switch to MHs.

My 100 gallon had 4 110 watt VHOs on it for many years and the clams grew like crazy, now I have MH but the tank was better with the flourescents.

i have 4 54W t5's over my 55 but there is only 15" of water(custom tank and its really shallow) and i have a crocea on the sand and it recovered from the lfs and its thriving. it all depends on how deep the tank is. if you keep it say 12" or less from the top you should be good.
