Clams

Do clams change their colors. I ask this because I have a maxima or crocea not sure, that is now brown/purple color with tiny blue dots around the edges of the mantel. Will or should the clam start to color up just like an SPS coral thats been abused? Or am I stuck with this color? I have 2-400 watt halides, and 4-URI VHO tubes over a 90 gal

Clams look different under different lighting. As they grow the pattern may change a little. But I would not ook for this clam to color up, like one would expect from an sps coral.

Try looking directly down on your clam from above and see it's true colors. Looking thru the glass at the clam, will appear much different.
