Clarkii clowns host all pacific anemones. They are natural hosts for them in the wild. However, they don't naturally host Atlantic anemones such as the sun Carpet or the Condy anemone simply because Clarkiis are not from that ocean.

Before I give you an recommendations on anemones, how old is your tank?

Welcome to Reef Central. Its a great forum!

If you don't have much else in the tank, you may be able to keep a BTA in there. He would probably want to settle high to the lights. I think that with a pair of clarkiis and the nem, the tank would pretty well be full as far as bio-load.

The 3" clarkii would pretty much play havoc with a smaller one. I don't know if they would pair or not. Just have to try.

If the smaller one starts immediately twitching at the large one and the large one dosen't attack, you may have a chance.

Nature will only tell.

I agree, with that lighting only a BTA would do well, thankfully Clarkii's love them. I just moved my new tank bred pair out of quarantine last night and they took right to the BTA within 10 minutes (you can see them in my gallery). A Clarkii at 3" has most likely already turned female. I would get a small juvenile, not much larger than 1" so that you can be pretty certain it hasn't sexed up yet. That would certainly improve your chances of them pairing off.

The larger female will test it and the smaller should twitch like it has siezures to show that it is submissive. When the larger accepts the smaller as a mate she will often twitch back in response. If she doesn't it is nothing to worry about, just make certain she doesn't do any damage. If you see the smaller one hiding up in a top corner near the water surface and not leaving that position then you may have to remove it, it is likely extremely scared.

just bought a Clarkii clown 1" and my other clown keeps swimming close to it and some times attacks it but then some times just keeps swimming near it. Should i keep them togother?

She is only testing him, this is normal. How is the new small Clarkii acting? Does it seem overly stressed or scared? Does he twitch in response to the attack? Is it hiding up in a top back corner of the tank? If they do pair off they will spend most of their time near each other. At this point it sounds like everything is going perfectly.

The clowns dont fight but most of the time the small clown just swims and the big clown some time swims with it. but in the night they stay together and dont leave each other. Is this normal?
