I have had a female Clarkii for about 3 yrs and a male Clarkii for about 1 1/2 yrs and no eggs as of yet. Is there any way to entice them into laying eggs?

increase their feedings and feed them good frozen food. best way is to set up a tank just for them and a clay pot. raise temp over 80 and feed them like mad. but there is no real way to entice them to lay.

Yup, basically feed them lots of high quality food...fed to satiation 4 to 6 times per day should be sufficient from the dietary aspect. Nice warm spring/summer reef temps and long days (photoperiod) also help.

Thank you both for your input, I might try feeding more. As of now I feed once per day and I only feed frozen! Either mysid or brine!

Feed as much as your tank will handle without over doing it. 12 hour photoperiod will help. Don't need all the main lights on. And a temp over 80 will help too.
I got a massive laying clarkii pair. I love em.

Thanks Whip. I have 2 bta and at night my clowns sleep in opposite nems. Does this mean the female doesnt like the male?

nope it doesnt mean that at all. if she didnt like him she would beat him alot, sometimes to death.
i have a 2 pairs (gsm and fancy white) that sleep in seperate nems. they take turns going into them. its normal.
its like us only staying in our bedroom. your gonna use all of the house if you can.

Sometimes Clarkii will end up with two females from a m/f pair. They may or may not fight. Are they both the same size?

You could also try decrease the specific gravity, large water change(50%), and adding more water flow in addition to the suggestions listed above.

I would stop feeding frozen brine and replace it with a high quality frozen food or make your own. You can also add a feeder to feed pellets a few times a day
