Clarkii Found His LTA Pal!

I bought a clarkii/lta pair recently....after going to my lfs over a several week period to observe and inspect them....they were inseparably at the store.

i placed the lta in the bottom of my tank, cut lights back and waterflow....everything seemed fine. clarkii went behind the rocks for a while. i figured he would eventually find his pal, but worried he wouldnt host him again.

i went to bed all night thinking about all the horror stories i have read about everyone's nems walking the tank, or getting pulled into my vortech.

despite find a comfy spot on the right side of my tank (not first choice, but its his home, not mine), i was amazed to see the clarkii found his pal and is hosting him.

this is my first nem/clown pair, and it was truly exciting to see them together once again in the tank.

i shot a quick 1 min HD clip with my iphone. The colors are nicer in person....the iphone WB stinks. your right, the rock is dry rock, using established LR, mud, and sand in the fuge.

yeah, i have to be honest, i am looking at adding more nems to the tank in the future. i waited a long time to find a pair that was good looking, and I could not pass this combo up. its a really cool relationship. I target fed the LTA some pe mysis (selcon & phyto soaked) today, and whatever the clarkii ate it did not share with the nem, however who knows what they will be like in the future. at this point im hoping for the best and want to make sure the nem doesnt go walking around too much more. i think there is a carpet nem in my tanks future.

not necessarily a safeguard....its not possible. it will go where it wants. however i do have my return loc-line nozzle aiming just below the vortech, basically shooting a strong stream of water just before it would get pulled into the vortech. most inverts do not like the direct blast and this safeguards a little bit for extra measure.
