Clarkii in BTA?

Fretfreak13

I am not a boy!
I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen a clarkii host a BTA? I'm quite partial to them, I think they're 10x prettier than perculas, so I'd really like to nab a pair, but I also love clowns that'll host.

I've heard they'll host in another type of nem. What is it, and could I keep one of them in a 30 gallon under four T5 bulbs?

I'm still in the planning stages of this tank, so no worries about rush purchases or anything. I sorta know what I'm doing...sorta. lol

Clarkiis will accept every anemone as a host. They will even accept some anemones that are not natural hosts. If you want to see the anemone-clown relationship, buy a clarkii.

Anemones host clowns, clown don't host anemones. i.e. the BTA hosts the clown.

I knew that, I just never actually heard someone type it out that way. lol

Thanks for the inputs. I'm actually glad because I've had BTAs before and stuff. I'm intimidated about taking on any other ones (especially in my little tank x.o). But the purple LTA on LA is really calling my name...must...resist! =(

So now the question is...green or red? :spin1: lol

Hi Fretfreak13 : I have a green bubble-tip in my 46 bow but the clowns like the hairy mushroom covered rock more than the anenome. Whatever they have the most fun in. Get some hairy green mushrooms they love them... I think it would be difficult to keep the water up to par and I do not think it is big enough for an anenome but you can always get a larger tank or add a nice big refugium with cheato... Happy Reefing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had a nem in the tank before, but a power outage killed it off. Also got a fuge in the sump that's a good ten gallons, which doesn't sound like much but in ratio to the tank it is. lol Always keep a little mantis shrimp down there.

I don't think I can stress how much a clarkii will accept an anemone host. I've never had them accept surrogate hosts like mushrooms but an hour with an anemone in the tank is all mine have ever needed; and I've kept a lot of clarkiis (one of my favorites). I've had them in Condys, Atlantic carpets, BTAs, LTAs, carpets; never a second thought and the clowns in them within the hour. I've actually had them dive into an anemone the second they touched the water fresh out of the aquarium bag.

I think I want some, now.
