Clarkii's laid eggs???

After work this evening... went to feed the fish. Noticed both clarkii's in my RBTA. Normally only the female goes into it and chases the male away (been this way for the last couple of months) When I feed the fish, the male stayed in the RBTA while the female went out to eat. The male ate staying very close to the RBTA.

This a act of the male protecting the eggs?

just looking for info.. thought it was strange that the female let the male in the RBTA.

could be that they are getting along better and sharing the house. how old are they and how long you had them?
if there was eggs, then look under the nem and the eggs will be there.

Had the RBTA for 3 months, the 2 clarkii's 2 months. Umm.. no way for me to look under nem.

Just watch the male. If there are eggs, he'll go to them every few minutes to take care of them.

My Clarkii male is vicious when there's a nest in the tank. If I put my hand anywhere near the nest I get rewarded with a quick strike/bite.

Picture a little miss leading.. the nem is about 6" across, female about 3".

On a side note... Every night when the main lights go to actinics only. The RBTA deflates down to basically nothing, never moves, in about 1/2 to 1 hour it is back full enflated again?? I only spot feed now every 12 days. My lights are 500w MH with 4 actinic bulbs, the fixture is 12" above the tank, which is 32" tall. The lights just from full on to actinics only, no ramping down from full on to actinics. The RBTA is not discharging waste either.

any ideas?
