This is my tank:

26gal with 2x65 current obrit light. I have a 4" DSB with about 30 lbs. of LR. I have 1 piece of coral in my tank right now and that is a starburst polyp. Livestock is a lemonpeel angel and 2 clowns, along with 3 hermit crabs and 3 nassarius snails.

I recently changed my lemonpeels diet b/c of a disease (HLLE) he now eats twice a day...greens in the morning (seaweed strip...some grinded and some on a clip and a few angel formula 2 pellets) and meat in the evening (mysis shrimp and angel formula frozen...with Zoe and Zoecon soaked).

I need and will soon purchase a new clean-up crew and i believe with feeding my fish 2 times a day...this crew will do just fine...and will have plenty of extra to feed off of.

10 Scarlet Hermits
10 Nassaius Snails
10 Astrea or Cerith Snails
1 Cleaner Shrimp

So what do you guys think?

Thanks!

IMO, since you have DSB you probably want a "detrivore kit": bunch of worms, serpent star, etc... I just got mine from IndoPacific Sea Farms (www.ipsf.com) I took advantage of their mix'n'match deal. You get 9 items for 99.95 (shipping included). What I got amphipods, baby bristle worms, spaghetti worms, sandbed clams, strombus grazers, nerite snails, microhermits... and some other stuff.
Or get "kit" from www.inlandaquatics.com. I am getting this one next :)

I hope you have a very big skimmer and about 40 lbs of live rock..
If you dont your next post will be .....Help!!! I have algae growing all over my tank. You are feeding WAY to much for those fish.
If you dont have a giant skimmer I would cut feedings down to like twice a week . 4 inch sand bed is not really considered a dsb. what it will become though is a nutrient trap. If you are going with 4inchs thinking it will remove nitrate you are mistaken.
I would take out about 3 inches of that sand, and cut back on feeding or you are going to a some algae problems very soon.

even with hlle I would cut feeding down to 3 times a week once a day. It wont hurt him just soak everything in zelcon. If you continue to feed that much spikes in amonia nitrite or nitrate will kill him even faster.

yes I do.....It can be caused by malnutrion. It can also be caused by stray voltage. He may not have been going hungry just missing out on things he needed. Algae but most likely sponge.

i understand that HLLE can be caused by stray voltage...and i took care of that with sure protectors and grounding strips...

...i wasn't feeding my angel correctly...i was feeding spurlina flakes...i went out and corrected that this week by purchasing seaweed strips, angel forumla frozen, mysis shrimp, and formula 2 pellets...i also bought kent zoe and kent zoecon and i use that as extra vitamens on the frozen food and the pellets...

...i put a new seaweed strip in the tank about every other day but right now im unsure to whether or not my lemon is eating it...

...at night when i feed the frozen i usually feed enough until they look as if they have eaten enough...

...i was told to feed greens in the morning and meat at the night...

if this is too much...how should i be feeding...

...my fish are already use to an everyday feeding and its been that way for a long time...can i continue this but once a day...

...and will this new diet (food) i'm feeding my lemonpeel help reverse the process of HLLE...

...o yea will my clowns eat sufficent with the angels food? i gring it up for everyone to eat...

Thanks

When you say grounding strips, do you mean grounding probes?
Are they in the tank, or the sump?

The HLLe the angel has may be reversible like anything else it depends how bad it is, how established your tank is. Angels are grazers they need live rock that has been established for a while with lots of algae and sponge and things like that for them to graze on. If he is not taking algae from a clip try rubber banding it to little pcs of live rock that you drop in the tank . I would just feed the angel formula and mysis and leave out the other formula pelets. Your clowns will be fine they are like the billy goats of the ocean and usually will eat everything and anything.

Yes you can cut back the feeding without hurting the fish. Like every thing in this hobby do it slowly. Go to one a day feedings then go to 5 times a week then down to 3 times a week.

I am assuming you dont have a very large skimmer.
This is why I am telling you to cut back on feedings.
I would test my amonia and nitrate to see just how fast or how slow you need to cut down. With that size tank though you could just do some water changes to keep up the feeding if you like.
My fear is that your amonia is going to get very high and make all you livestock sick.

I feed my tank 4 times a week. But I have a huge skimmer and do weekly water changes.

I have the Aqua C Remora skimmer on my tank...i also have a huge canister filter on my tank that really does a great job. I do a weekly water change of 3 gallons.

if i'm unsure whether or not my lemon is eating the seaweed strip on the clip...could i shread it and give it like flakes or do i need him to eat from the strip?

It depends how he wants it......Since they are grazers you may have more luck rubber banding it to a pc of rock. Feeding it like flake will be very messy and most of it will go uneaten;

OK well i just took test of my tanks levels and ur right the ammonia and nitrates are up slightly...my nitrites though are at 0.

ammonia is at 0.25
nitrates is at 5.0

this isn't bad but i know that if i continue to overfeed...my levels will really spike...i guess i'll be keeping a watchful eye on my levels for the time being...

...o well i'll begin feeding once a day and then i'll try to take it from there...

...i was told i need to feed greens though...so if at night i'm feeding the shrimp and angel frozen...when should i feed the strips?

If you feed once a day start rotating. One day green one day meat. The angel formula does have spiralina in it.
