clean up crew for seahorse tank

No... With crabs being opportunistic I'd hate to see them try and attack a sea horse... Imo snails are the way to go in this tank...

If you "must" keep crabs, scarlet reef hermits (Pagueristes cadenati) would be your best bet, as they're the most docile of the hermits. That being said, I've still seen them grab onto resting SH tails on occasion.

Snails are probably a seahorse's best friend. They don't harass them. I have tons of snails in my 100g seahorse tank (cerith, trochus, turbo, nassarius) and they do an amazing job with clean-up.

Unfortunately, crabs are VERY likely to injure a seahorse.

I have a couple of different kinds of snails in mine and a common cucumber. I have one coral banded crab but he leaves the seahorse alone. I also just put about 60saltwater ghost shrimp in of various sizes hoping they will breed for food. He ate all the small ones within seconds...LOL and tried to eat a few that were too big for it's mouth and had to spit em out
