Clean up crew with a Puffer?

I am getting interested in setting up a clean up crew for a fish only tank. However I wanted to know if there was such a thing considering I have a puffer that might pick at them. Would the bother snails? Also, don't snails get all bothered with copper in the water?

I have a porcupine puffer. I have intoduced 3 kinds of snails as well as a coral banded shrimp and nothing has happened. He could care less. Im not saying all puffers are like that though.

From what I have read, copper is a bad thing for any invert. Its not something you want to introduce in a display.
