Clean up help

Okay folks, burnout kinda going away. My 120 is coming back into shape but i need some help with clean up tips. I was unhappy with the T-5 lighting I had so i decided to go "old school" and installed for 110 watt VHO bulbs above my setup with an Icecap 660 ballast. 3 bulbs are actinic white 10k and the 4th is actinic "03". Pretty much a stadard setup for me as I will be doing some Lps and softies. I have green and orange ricordia and some other mushrooms but that is pretty much it.

There is a G-2 skimmer hooked up and we are doing regular if not excess water changes.

My problem is a black slimy algae that i cannot seem to get to go away. Since the new lighting installation, it has been making "bubbles" as well. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it maybe a "red slime" but in another color from lack of proper lighting until recently?

And btw. Hello again to everyone. Sorry I have been off the grid. Working a lot of hours and a burnout phase for my tanks.

I never really had any problems with slime algae, just various green hair algae. But, I think the same approach applies. There is no single magic bullet. I had to use multiple attacks to get it under control. I used a spare canister filter to vacuum out as much as possible. I added various clean up crews. Choose you snails carefully though, dead snails are worse than none. :) I prefer the banded trochus. They are able to right themselves if they fall over and they seem a bit hardier that a lot of the others. Hermits are good scavengers and clean up excess food in addition to eating algae. I added macro algae to my sump and put it on a reverse light schedule. I ran carbon and GFO in a small filter. Your skimmer and water changes will help as well. It took awhile, but once you get it under control it doen't take much to keep it that way. In fact, now I have to supplement with nori in order to keep the grazers fed.
