Clean up

I was wondering, my tank is quite old and has had its issues over the last three years. There's these brown star polyps that weave in an out of my live rock and its been noted that a sea star or two might help in thinning this out. My tank has had a tragedy, too. My AC went out when I was gone and for over a day it reached 90. Lost many LPS, so now I have less to worry about concerning the stars. Any thoughts out there and what kind of star would do the job?

No starfish is going to do any job nor is there one for this situation. Even sandsifters can't do their job without starving to death polluting the sandbed even more decaying.

Can you get pics of these "brown star polyps" or is it aiptasia.

Do you have any other corals in there? Camelback shrimp might eat the polyps but they might eat some other corals too. I used to keep one in my sump so that it could clean GSP off rocks for me.

As a side note I have a camel freely roaming my reef which contains zoas, star polyps, just name it.. no issues.
