Cleaner shrimp and BTA

I got couple fauls perc in my tank and I finally decide to purchase a BTA for them. My perc shows no interest at all to the BTA as they always hang around my powerhead. These couple days I found my cleaner shrimp "dance" on top of the nem and seems to me it is picking up "stuff" to eat. Could that be possible the shrimp just eating the dead skin off the BTA if they got any? I don't see the BTA react to the shrimp at all, still got bulb tip and not retarcting. I am just afraid the hungry cleaner shrimp consider the BTA a nice beefy meal.

Its most likely stealing food from it. Shrimp are known for doing that.

ya I kno they stealing food, but I saw the shrimp do that everyday right after lights on. And I only feed the nem every other day. So I am sure it wasn't the left over food. Just afraid the shrimp will cuase dmg to the nem

My cleaner shrimps do this as well. During the day they are on the other side of the tank. An hour after the lights go out, they too seem to be "cleaning" my long tentacle anemone. My two maroon clowns keep all others away from their nem but pay no attention to the shrimp.

once the nem is healthy ( sticky ), you should have to worry about the shrimp

how long has the nem been in the tank??


if the shrimp is trying to steel the nems food, feed the shrimp a little piece of whats on the menu first. then he will leave the nem to his dinner. the only time my cleaners can get near my nems is when they first split and it doesn't take long before they realize the danger once the anemone gets his sticky back.

Yea my skunk cleaner even riped a tiny hole in one of my RBTA's tentacles. I was ready to feed the shrimp to the anemone after that.

the BTA only in there for a week so far, today after i got home from work , I actrually saw the bigger perc having fun in the bta, but as soon as I turn on my room light she run bak to powerhead. But at least I kno she is interest about the BTA. As for the shrimp, I will just keep an eye on it, will probly feed it to my nem if it does do something crazy lol

I have just rid my tank of the last shrimp. They are a pain in the butt when it comes to Nems. They always want to harass any new nem put in tank.

seems my perc is protecting the nem now, she chasing the shrimp away.
