My cleaner shrimps seems to be dieng. It had seemed fine and then all of a sudden it was laying on its back twitching. We bought him three days ago and the night after he seems to lay eggs. Then after that it didnt seem to move much then it just fell onto its back... What do you think happned???

How long did you acclimate it? Most shrimp can be very sensitive to water changes.

When asking questions it is very useful to give information about your tank and your tank readings. If new, ammonia, nitrite are critical.

Shrimp are sensitive to changes in salinity. What is yours? Did you measure with a refractometer? How did you acclimate?

I acclimated it correctly......let it sit in the bag in the tank for a specified amount of time...then gradually added small amounts of water to the shrimps water over an hour or so period of time.....the ammonia level is good....just checked it.....no change in salinity in the tank......yes I use a refractometer..... The shrimp never really seemed to act noramally but this is all new to me.She sat in the corner all evening after we put her in the tank and I noticed hours later that her eggs were gone (I could see them inside her initally). After that she seemed to hang around the filter cord...did not move around much....moved her front legs often...and her tentacles but did not travel around the tank. Could I have jsut gotten a bad shrimp? I have one other fish a lawnmower blemie and he seems fine so far...also two snails. This was the first batch of fish I put in. Was the shrimp a poor choice for the beginning?
