I just purchased a cleaner shrimp yesterday. The acclimation was very slow, and took a little over two hours. I put him in at about 2 in the afternoon. I turned on the lights this morning, and I see him, at the spot he likes to hang out at, and then a few inches away I found his shedded skin. Is this bad news? This was a very quick molt.

Alright cool, and my next question is...Will a cleaner shrimp clean any kind of fish? I have seen them clean tangs, and what not, but I hav ea firefish in with him, do you think he will clean it?

I have two cleaners and every other day I see an exoskeleton! The shrimp will clean anything that will let it. Tangs are used as an example always because they seem to be most prone to ick.

They will clean any fish. They dont just clean ich of fish, they remove dead skin and parasites. But when they do clean ich they dont remove it. Proper treatment still needs to be done. My cleaner molted in the bag! The company I ordered him from told me this happened quite regularly during shipping.

i had a cleaner for about 9 months, and it would molt regularly every three weeks or so. got to be about 3 inches long in the end before he 'vanished' and was never heard from again.
