Have tried Everything i can think of in the Last month or so to get rid of the 3 Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp in my 90...So at this point im thinking about Trying a Predatory fish that will catch them for me...Any Suggestions???...Ive heard that some of the Wrasses will catch and eat them...
Ps.. Ive tried EVERY Imaginable method to catch these Shrimp,, But im willing to give anything at shot at this point...Thanks..

Mine crawl all over my hand if I put it in there, especially with food. Just feed them in a specimen container, then lift the whole container out.

why are you so desperate to remove them anyway?

Trying to get the shrimp out because they are CONSTANTLY picking at my Btas either trying to steal thier food or Trying to pick thier waste right out of thier mouths..Ive gone so far as to Feed the shrimp directly as much as they will eat..And they seem to Enjoy Picking at the Btas more...These 3 shrimp have already Killed a Beautiful Purple Lta and im tired of watching them stress my Nems to death..
Ive tried the Bottle trap but had no luck with it... Maybee im doing something wrong???..

I've had the same problem with a scarlet shrimp and a bta... the bta seems to be getting better after the removal, but it has been touch and go. I also fed the shrimp heathily...

Your name looks familiar I may have mentioned this before... and your tank is bigger and your rockwork might be more complex...

but...

I decided to kill my shrimp because I thought getting it out would be too difficult, so I was trying to smash him with a chop stick, after about 30 seconds I realized I could probably catch him with a net while chasing him with the chopstick. It was easy in my case.

FWIW, the chopstick is able to reach deep into my rock work and root the bastard out... it really was terrorizing ;-)

I tried feeding in the specimen container and that didn't work. For some reason when you have a advesarial relationship with a shrimp(or most animals) they seem to know it.

Good Luck Morphieus5150

Boy! If you manage to catch them I'll give them a home and pay for the shipping to get them here -- I've got a tang that would love the attention. ;-) Best of luck!

Funny that you say that.. Cause thats the Only reason i have them... A while back My sailfin had some Small white Parasites on him..Within 2 days of adding these shrimp all were gone and my fish have been spotless every since... They are Excellent Cleaners...But i just dont see a way to get them out.. Without dismantling my entire reef,Wich is Not an Option...
Ive even gone so far as to Try and Hook these Guys with a Sz .0004 Owner Treble Hook Baited with Silverside and or Tiger Prawn.. They will go straight for it.. But thier shell/mouth area is so Hard i cant hook them...And when it comes to Hooking something with a Hook and Line im Pretty Darn good after 25years of Salmon/Steelhead fishing here in the Pac. Northwest...LOl....

Netting them is Basically hopeless it seems..Ive tried it, even tried smearing my hands with Mashed Sileverside to try and Coax them to the Net..I have so much rock in the Tank with so many Caves that as soon as i put the net in the Water thier GONE..My closest attempt at catching them has Been Smearing my Hands with Mashed Silverside or Tiger Prawn, and Grabbing thier Tentacles once they get on my Hands..I have caught them by Thier tentacles but as soon as i try to pull them out of the tank they break off..{Sidenote: Tentacles grow back in about two weeks...Lol..}

shrimp are quite nasty little little survivors, huh.

My tank has lots of rock and caves too(yours must have more), but I was able to terrorize my 1 shirmp with a chopstick and get him out into open... I was quite upset with him and emotional, I was vigiilant... sorry, I was ****ed and wanted him to die, so I tried hard to get him (I'm sure you have too), sorry to beat the dead horse.

maybe you can become friends with your shrimp(lots of food), get them friendly over a month and try again :-)

I wish I was there to help.

try adding an 8line wrasse. when i have an 8 line wrasse in my tank can't keep any kind of shrimp alive.
