cleaner shrimp

Is anyone able to successfully feed their LPS with a cleaner shrimp in the tank. Maybe its just because I have a nano but my shrimp wont leave anything to be eaten by my corals. I know you can use the "cut water bottle" top trick but I'm kinda lazy:)

Lazy?

You're in the wrong hobby :)

Have you tried to feed your shrimp untill he is full?

Once he is no longer hungry you should be able to feed the corals.

Good luck

When I feed my 'nem I chase the shrimp away with water blasts from a turkey baster until its finished eating. Nets work well too.

I'm getting rid of peppermints for that very reason. Feeding until the shrimp are full is no less than a pain in the *** in itself, doesn't guarantee that it won't be hungry in an hour, and probably not an option with your nano due to wastes. And anyone that's fed lps knows that it doesn't matter if the shrimp finds the food an hour later, it will rip the food right out of the lps polyps. I can't get any growth out of my sun coral mini-colony because peppermints keep tearing the polyps to shreds. My solution is to give the shrimp away. Hopefully you find something that works.

Cleaners are a pain in the arse at feeding time:mad:

It doesn't matter if they've just eaten, they just want every scrap of food in the tank.

Hahaha i havent yet seen a problem with my cleaner shrimp but my psuedo after he has a giant beer gut will still steal from my corals. Im sorry but those shrimp have to much personality (for me at least) to ever give em away. There is nothing i like more then to see them chase after food on the top of the water line or when something is pushed over in the evening and the tank is dark, putting my hand in the tank only to find that my pair hops on to my hand begins a rigorious job of cleaning every nook and cranie on my already clean hands.

I personally love the look of shrimp in the tank; and the shrimp love when I feed the corals. Thats why I sold my shrimp before moving and will not add them back.

Heck the Nassarius snails are just as big a PITA when I feed the Cynardia as the shrimp were. At least they don't come up the rockwork to get to the other LPS.
