Cleaning a 6100.10

Hi Roger,
I have a dual controller with two 6100.10 pumps. They have been operating for years, only occasionally cleaning the impellers. One is now alarming. If I switch impellers, the same motor alarms. Without any impeller, the motor alarms.

I am currently soaking both the impeller and the motor housing in vinegar. Please advise if this is correct.

The motors will alarm without an impeller. Yes, you want to soak all parts, including the motor, but it is best to first disassemble the drive units as shown in the first thread in the forum.

I see what you mean. I'm just afraid that I'll never get those little black tabs back in there the way they're supposed to go.

Roger,
I soaked it for 2 days, and it is still alarming. However, the upper bearing was still down in the bottom of the impeller well, and the impeller was not fully disassembled.

It is now fully disassembled, cleaned, and I will let it soak overnight before reassembling.

If I do need to send it in for service, can I detach the powerhead from the controller box (rest of the system) and keep the running pump? Or do I need to send you the complete assembly with both pumps?

Ok, reassembled, still alarming. I shipped it to you today. You should receive on Monday. I put a copy of our thread in the box.
Thank you Roger.
