cleaning equipment

How do you guys clean your equipment? I know vinegar is best but do you use straight vinegar or do you dilute it? How long do you let equipment soak and what type of vinegar do you use?

Sorry for so many question but I have some old equipment that needs good cleaning and scrubbing doesnt seem to work very well with some the hard encrusted stuff. I also think my powerheads could use a good cleaning in the impeller area.

1/4 strength should be OK. Overnight should work. I am impatient, so I use muriatic acid from a pool company supply and dilute this like 1:10. It cleans it in minutes. I save it until it no longer bubbles when in contact with anything with coralline. Be careful, though because muriatic acid will burn and can blind you if you are not careful.

as salty really, 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water and leave overnight

I generally dilute it, only because I am cheap. It still seems to get the job done pretty well, it just takes a little longer.

I've read that soaking rubber suction cups in vinegar will ruin them.
