cleaning filter sock?

i clean my filter socks with bleach and i ran out and i need to clean some and all i have is scented bleach do u think that will harm my tank be scented of fresh medows?

I have ran out of bleach before, and I just cleaned them with nothing. They got pretty clean too! I would not risk scented bleach.

Hey Nano Man, I'm from St. Pete, howdy neighbor. I am new and was wondering how you clean the filter socks. I see unscented bleach.....do you just put them into the washing machine?

ya, on my washer i have a little hole where u put in bleach so i put in what i think is right then run for the full time then run it again with just water and then let it air dry

Any problems with washing in tap water as opposed to RO water?

Hope you dont mind me jumping into your conversation. Like yourself I have been cleaning my filter sock in the washing machine with bleach. Then someone told me that this was not a good idea since there might be detergent residue in the washing machine that may get into the sock. How long have you been using your washing machine to clean your filter sock? Thanks.

I can put my 2 cents in with Nano..
YEARS! Just double wash the socks. The first time with bleach the second time with nothing. I have not had a problem doing that for years. I have fish SPS, LPS, clams, inverts, anemones, and so on!
