Cleaning Filter Socks

What is the best method for cleaning filter socks? I have an IM All In One Tank. Filter socks have integrated hanger that hangs in back of tank. They're not cheap to replace so I'd like to know if they can be cleaned.

I have a total of seven that I use. I replace the sock after 3-4 days. I take the used one and use the hose to blast all the crud out of it and then it goes in a bucket with water and a little bleach. When i'm down to the last sock, I take the bucket with the used socks and put them in the washing machine. I turn them inside out and wash them ( no detergent or bleach), then turn them inside out again and wash them a final time. Let them dry for a couple of days and then they are ready to go.

Can't put them in a washing machine due to the plastic hanger. They'd probably break. I'll soak them with a little bleach then rinse the good.

I would run without the filter sock they are a pain.

I place mine in the washer all the time with no problems. Just use the gentle cycle with no detergent.

I agree, got rid of them years ago
( except for a couple of hours after maintenance)

I put them straight in the washer with some bleach. Never had any problems doing it.

anyone soak in oxy and then rinse? I do this for my media bags (and hop bags for home brewing). Oxy kills living cells (it's a variation peroxide) strong enough for hospital use.

Oxy doesn't last long in solution and should rinse clean.

Filter socks are in transit and I plan to have my sump up and running in the next two weeks. My plan was to soak overnight in oxyclean and rinse. No issues when I do taht for cleaning out the gfo bags.

I toss mine in washer with a little bleach and a extra rinse cycle...no problem...don't tell the wife

I use 2 caps of bleach wash them cold water in washer machine 2 complete cycles. Hang over my slop sink in garage until dry. Doing it like that for years never had a problem

You can put them in a net bag and wash them. Pre-soak in a bucket of water with a little of the type of bleach you can use for disinfecting "rain water tank" water, if you need them tidy white. (Not all bleaches are created equal). I don't use bleach. Just be sure you don't use really hot water, like boiling them on the stove. You don't want towarp the the plastic rings. Make sure they are dry so all the bleach evaporates. I hang mine out in the sun on a clothes line. Fish laundry.
