cleaning frozen food

Depends on the food if I am able to hikari I normally just hold it in the tank and let it thaw and fly but if its anything else I thaw it in a cup of water then pour it into a fine fish net and rinse it a little

I only rinse mysis. I break off chunks, put it in a brine shrimp net, and rinse it under cold tap water.

I don't rinse Rod's or the Pygmy Angel Formula because I figure it has microscopic goodies.

I use a two plastic cup method... first cup has holes poked in the bottom and the other one is normal... put the frozen food in the cup and thaw it... then lift the cup out and it strains the water out.

Several years ago ,a study was published in Coral Magazine. Popular frozen food brands were tested for vibrio bacteria. All presented vibrio bacteria even with a continuously frozen chain of custody. Whether these bacteia would harm the animals in our tanks is debatable. Nonetheless, the researchers recommended a soak and rinse in clorinated tap water before use.
It also seems the packing water used for many frozen foods is nutrient laden, so draining it off makes sense.imo..

I use about 2 oz of a mix of mysis ,brine, bloodworms and cyclopeeze each day along with some flake and nori. Aluminum foil wrapped 4oz packets( 2 days worth ) are measured out and stored in the freezer every 3 weeks or so. The frozen chunk is dropped in a plastic coffee can full oftap water and allowed to thaw. Then it is poured through a fine mesh net( brine shrimp net). The food is dumped back into the coffee can and ro water is added. This 2 day mix is fed with a small turkey baster and kept in the refrigerator.

I break off hunks of frozen food and drop it into a cup of RO water until it thaws. Then I pour the contents of the cup through a fine mesh net. Finally I flip the net into the top of a small plastic container and run RO water through the net into the container. I use a turkey baster to feed and store the leftover in the fridge. I usually make enough for 3 to 5 days at a time.

I've considered reusing the plastic blister trays that some frozen food comes in to make my own mix of single serving size frozen meals so I don't have to make up a new batch twice per week but haven't done it yet.
