Cleaning Fruit Juice Barrels

Hello all,
I bough a couple of platic 55 gal drums that had been used for fruit juice, actually smells like lemonade. Do I need to do anything to these besides rinse them out with water a few times to make them good to go for holding my SW mix? Thanks!

I used some vinegar and rinsed them out well. Mine had syrup so it was pretty sticky.

I used washing soda in mine. Look in the laundry section of your grocery store.

It is not detergent, and is perfectly safe.

After a couple of soaks, the odor of the contents (in my case, cooking sherry) was minimal.

I have been using two 15 Gal drums that used to hold Dr Pepper Syrup. I washed them as well as I could but they still smell. The fish dont seem to mind living in Dr P. SW
