Cleaning Powerheads - Suggestions?

hey guys,

well its that time. i have held back for a LONG LONG time from cleaning my powerheads but i figured it had to happen at some point. any suggestions for cleaning? i have two koralia 4s. i was thinking possible dropping the whole thing in vinegar. they are both covered in coraline algae. either way, would appreciate any tips or would like to hear your method. thanks!

I use vinegar with water... works pretty good

Do a 1:2 vinegar to water bath. Let them sit for a day or 2 and then simply use a toothbrush to get the corraline off. Works like a charm

And how often should they be cleaned? Under normal conditions.

3-6 months, depending on how much buildup they get

i always stick mine in a bucket of vinegar and turn them all on. Its kind of cool cause the water turns pink from all the Coraline algae just busted up.

hmmm, run them in vinager? I always soak mine for a day but running it might even be better.

i leave mine in a bucket of vinegar over night once a year. they'll look like brand new in the morning.
