Cleaning Process

Hello All,

My better half finally let me get 2 10 gallon tanks during the PETCO $1/per gallon sale, so now I will be doing the TTM with new fish before going into the QT. My question when I transfer the fish, I know to clean the equipment with bleach or vinegar. What is the ration of each and do I soak it with either one or just rinse with either one? Thank you

Yes, I read that, he mention cleaning with bleach or vinegar. I was wondering what was the ratio was? For example, 10:1 water to bleach or 100% bleach?

for vinegar concentrations during cleaning, i usually go with what i can reasonably afford (if soaking, if wiping down or scrubbing i just use straight vinegar)

for example, if i am going to soak a small powerhead in half a gallon of liquid, i just go with straight vinegar, but if i'm going to clean a large tub, of say 25 gallons, then it becomes cost prohibitive and i dilute it as much as i have to.

for bleach, 10:1 water to bleach is a good ratio, though stronger solutions won't necessarily hurt because you will be rinsing anything that has been in them thoroughly in fresh water anyways.

also very important to note: make sure the tanks and equipment dry completely. no water left in those corners!
