Cleaning rock with toothbrush

Hi everyone. I recently found some hair algea in my tank and it is not on a rock that os structually integral to my aquascape. I am planning to take the rock out and scrub it with a tooth brush to kill the algea before it spreads. However, being cautiouse when I read the box with the tooth brushes, it said it had something called tougne/ motuh freshener on it, I can't remember which. Anyway this sounds like a chemical and I don't want to put it on anything going in my tank. Does anyone have any ideas or altenative srcubing devices?

Just a plain toothbrush should be fine. OralB plain toothbrushes are cheap.
