Cleaning your sump?

Has anyone tried vacuuming their sump with a shop vac? Do you think it would ruin the vac? I have one side of my sump that I can get the detritus out of with a powerhead but the other side has some hard to reach places. What do you guys do about it?

I don't think it would ruin a wet/dry vac, but it wouldn't be my first choice. For small areas of my sump where I can't fit a pump/powerhead, I use a 1/2" piece of tube and a powerhead to blow water at the stuff to another chamber where I can reach it. Works great for cleaning out my bubble traps and such.
