Okay - had dozens and dozens of snails over the years. Never really had an algae issue.

5+ years of no maintenance and I have an algae issue… or so I thought.

I purchased 10 turbos and 10 Astreas, along with a tuxedo from @Dr. Reef

20+ years in reefing and honestly have never seen anything like it! you can see them cleaning entire rocks like something out of a cartoon.

I have all the above plus a few ceriths and a money cowrie (which is so nocturnal I hardly ever see it). I had a black stomatella hitchhiker that was a great contributer for about a year but he decided to investigate the prop of my nero 3 and is now bristleworm food.

I have always had snails, I guess I just never noticed them really making a difference, as they always must have been ahead of the game or something. Watching them turn boulders from green to white in somewhat real time is stunning.

They climbed into that rock this morning - right side has been cleaned, working toward the left. It is insane how much 5 or 6 of them have eaten.

(removed small photo and added new larger below)

That is a fairly large rock - easily 12" - 14" wide and as tall.
