I am looking to buy clear piping.

Anyone know where to buy some?

Local would be best I am in New York, but I don't mind ordering online.

of course I need it to be reef safe.

I made my own PVC skimmer, it works fantastic, the only problem is the collection cup section is using the solid white pvc and i never know when it is full or what is going on in it, so i want to recreate the top section with a clear view

thanks!

You can get clear (sorta, none of it is like acrylic) PVC from www.usplastics.com The problem you'll have is getting a short piece and clear PVC is BIG $$$. I would make the collection cup from acrylic tubing. You can use extruded. It's not as expensive as cell cast. If you're concerned about gluing PVC to acrylic, Weldon 40 will definitely do the trick. I'm sure there are others as well. A good source for extruded acrylic tubing is:

Thanks I will check them out!

I appreciate the info

US Plastics also carries it.

Out of curiosity, why are you looking? Clear PVC is neat, but can lead to problems with algae growing where you don't want it and where it's hard to clean.

If all you want is a collection cup, look at acrylic jars. I used a 1 gallon mason type container for my collection cup.

just a FYI.. use caution when cutting/drilling "extruded" acrylic.. The stresses are much higher and its far more "brittle/prone to cracking" than the more expensive "cast" tubing..
