Clear water

How do you keep your water clear? I always have floaties in my water colum and am curious how everyone else does it. I skim 24/7 and use fiber floss in two places in my fuge/sump to catch any detritus that is trying to return to the display tank. I also run ozone through my skimmer.

Does that bother you? i am guessing yes. That would be a lot of floss and filters to catch everything I guess. This seems like what is life question? lol

There is a nano tank going against Eric that is totally clear, its like looking through air. Eric's cube was clear like that too.

I use pure-flo pads to clear my water column. Very fine stuff if your water must flow thru it and it clogs you could be in for a flood. I never totally block the water path with it and it does wonders to clear all that fine stuff floating in your water.

Eric, I have the pump throttled back a little to drop the water level in the main tank. Flow through the sump is not very high.

Keith, I can take about 25 gallons in the sump before I flood.

I think what I am seeing is sand particles stirred up by my 1) Clown 2) Pink Spotted Goby 3) my Leopard and Coris Wrasses) 4) my Blennies

Looking at Cris Capp's web site; http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1046033

Check out his portfolio and tanks, that is the kind of water I want!!!

Your tank looks clear to me everytime I see it Paul. Is there some tint in the water? I havent seen your new setup but could the CL be blowing your sandbed a bit? I think Cris's is a low e or acrylic tank. I would think that would make a difference in water appearance I would think. I could be wrong though. Evertime I look at Reefkoi's tank, it looks really clear to me.

also when people take pic of their tanks they usually turn the pumps off... this helps make the water look clearer..
