Clearing out a few frags - some of these are pretty AWESOME

Meet me in evenings in western Racine County for any of these.

This is quite honestly about the best acro I have, both in term of growth rate and overall color. It's an aquacultured blue mille I picked up from www.atlantisaquarium.net a little while back and grew out from a frag. It has the most blue color I've ever come across in a mille personally. I even have a couple other blue milles in my tank that dont really come close. I dont like to frag it a whole lot, but it's growth rate has caused it to encroach on all the acros around it (not to mention the glass) and so today was the day.

First, to show the growth rate, here is a shot first from Dec '05 and then yesterday, 8 months later (the color from Dec is more representative - the white balance was off on my camera again):

Now for the actual frags. These range from a couple inches with many multibranches, down to a frag about an inch or so, single branch, all priced accordingly. Some with flash, some without to give you more idea (the color of the blue linkia behind the frags is pretty darn accurate too).

And just a couple more available now.

This first one is a tabling acropora plana. Kind of a blue-green turquoise body with blue-ish growth tips. I usually grow these out a little bit bigger before selling, but I dont have a lot of room now. So while I try to sell those others, here is a small frag, a little under an inch. First the colony from a 02-06, then the actual frag.

Small blue-green plana - $20

This frag I sold back in Feb is a better picture more representative of the color:

This green stag acro with green polyps and blue tips has been growing incredibly fast now.

This was pic of the colony I took a few months back. The growth has been phenomenal since then:

Thats about all the frags I have made right now. I could possibly find frags of the green-purple rimmed monti cap. But I cant make promises. Small quarter-sized pieces would be $15 and medium half-dollar sized pieces would be $20

I'm contemplating a couple others. But that's all for right now.

John, when the fish room is done and looking for occupants, we need to talk. You have some great-looking corals there.

Very nice frags johns. I would like one of each.

Hey Jason if you look back here I tryed to pm you but your box is full just wanted to ask if you were going to get some of these from johns. Maybe we could share the price of the ride or maybe even the ride it self.

Thank you Mike.

Just let me know if/when you would be able to make it. It would have to be evenings on weekdays . Weekends pretty flexible.

Mako, I have a Base - a- Balla get together trip to Milwaukee planned on Sept 9th. I have PM'd John with my desires to purchase some of his quality frags, and my misgivings regarding shipping such items. I offered to ppal now but I'm not sure if he wanted to hold it till then... I'm waiting to hear from him.
I guess we could split gas... or does anyone want to get a shopping trip to Johns place... at 3$ a gallon, I figure I get about 400 miles to a tank... and 146 miles from Green Bay to Union Grove... thats like 35-40 in gas. (sounds alot like a shipping charge I just split with some people I know.)I'm game, we could even go some night...

I'm also interested in a frag of the green-purple rimmed monti cap if there are any... I got a frag of Srlumeys brown mont cap in november, and it has doubled in size... I want some color in the tank though. I have to raise up my lights though. I bleached that one out, I had to put it on the floor to bring back the color.

Jason

ps. Cleaned out the pm... been conducting lotsa expensive business with those group order thing and all..

Mako,

I just rec'vd the reply from John regarding the Milli I wanted. He would like to keep everything first come, first served. He would prefer not to take immediate payment to reserve something and wait (up to 26 days) to figure out ship details or pickup details. And honestly I can't blame him. Since a minimum of 150 miles seperates us... and fuel.... not sure I can drop everything and run down there. I really want it, but have a hard time giong all that way for 1 item, possibly more, but no garuntees. I made a dead-head trip down to 7 mile road to see Prugs about 4 months ago. After I got home and looked at the economics, I kicked myself for a week. If anyone would like to entertain a more rational solution, I'm listening I suspect many of you in the FVRC will have the same logistics problem- but I guess untill that time. I'm out.

Two thoughts here:

#1: shipping isn't a terrible thing if it's packaged properly. I've shipped probably 125 different coral packages out with maybe 4-5 problems...and some of those were Priority mail stuck 8 days+. If you pay insurance on the item and it doesn't make it, it's covered.

#2: I'd be willing to drive down there with you sometime once the fish room is in a semi-state of workability. I'm hoping that will be by the end of the week. I get about 35 mpg on the highway, so we'd be looking at splitting maybe $25 or so in gas there and back.

If we go down, I'd like to make it a weekend and perhaps hit some other stops along the way back as well in Milwaukee.

If he was willing to ship you can ship UPS or Fedex ground and it's suppose to take 1 day to here.
Ive had both have a delay once though. Fedex lost the package and UPS couldnt find the house lol.

Actually live corals arent covered by insurance by any of the carriers.
Fedex delivered it 3 days later and we told them but they must not have scanned it and they said it was lost (even after we told them it was delivered lol).
My place I ship from did say it was corals and they did pay me the insurance money but it is taking a chance.
UPS found the house the next day and they were ok.

Like RC says though it's rare it happens. Just don't tell them it's live.

I know it's done.. I even know how to do it... I bought 3 fraqs from a guy last year. They have always been ok frags, but growth has been spotty. Yet the stuff I pickup, does very well. I don't have any problem waiting... maybe mako and I can get something going, or anyone else.
