Clicking 6095

I have 2 6095s and the one that is clicking is newer. Pump is about 2 months old and has even clicking since I received it. I have it set to pulse every .7 seconds from 30-80%. Controlled by apex.

It is not a deal breaker because I love these pumps, the versatility and power is unmatched by anything I have used. But is there any fix because the other pump is quiet as he$&. I have to put my hear on the magnet to ear it running.

I came for a similar question. Figured I'd just add to this as you might be able to answer both with the same answer. On my 90 gallon i have 2 older 6055, and a 6095 that is less then a year. I am also pulsing the same .7 sec. The 6095 is 0 to 100 and dead silent. If I run either 6055 at a 0 to 100 it clicks real loud. For the time being I have both 6055 running 30 to 100 and its quiet. I'd like to run one of the 6055 on the 0 to 100 pulse to increase the wave action. What parts do I need to buy to rid them of the clicking. Also is the 0 to 100 safe to run on these pumps?

Actually I want to correct original post my pumps actually run 0-80% not 30-80 and it clicks. If the pump starts at 30 it is quiet.

To answer your question 0-100 is fine. You don want to run them between 1-29%

Ok so now I just need to get my 6055's from clicking. The 6095 is dead silent. But like I said my 6055 are from over 2 or 3 year ago

OK, for an older pump, I would change the disk, 6055.740, older pumps used 6025.740 and this lacks the anti attenuation disk which is essentially a shock absorber to absorb the click from the magnet impacting the base of the pump on start up.

For the new 6095, I suspect either something is wrong with the 6055.740 (compressed or torn or upside down or missing) or the 6095.700 drive unit is stiff on the shaft, so it binds and then lets go abruptly and slaps the bottom of the pump hard. I would visually inspect the disk, you will likely need a pen light to look down in the pump, and I would also try swapping the drive unit between the two to rule out one that fits stiff on the shaft.

since I am ordering stuff, what are the chances that I can change out the drive unit, and front housing of the 6055 with the 6095 equivalent and get more flow?

Ill look into that thank you. Just for the record I took the guard off and touch propeller with finger while it was pulsing and now it does not click. So for now ill leave it alone. Not sure if that helps your diagnosis.

I would stick with the 6055 drive unit. The 6095 motor is a bit different, not much, but it is designed to spin a little faster with the larger prop and long term I worry the 6095 prop could damage the motor. You could use the 6095 front housing.

It may be the prop was just loose and clicking against the drive magnet, this is not very common on pumps made in the last 4 years but it may have just been loose and you pushed it back together. Older pumps were loose and would click and a new drive unit will fix this but the design was changed in 2008.

Well the clicking continued. So I took drive unit out and switched. Seems to fixed issue. Not sure what the difference is where the other pump doesn't click

If the 6055 is older (2007-2009) the drive unit had some play between the prop and magnet and this would cause a click, the drive unit changed in late 2008. It is also possible it is just worn.

Sorry, I see it was a 6095, my guess is the drive unit has some small blemish or defect. If you are in the US I can send a replacement, otherwise I would contact your dealer.
