Clip-on Fan

Any seen these lately? Seems to be a seasonal item & my tank's running at 84 degrees during the day. I thought T5s weren't supposed to be hot? Had the canopy & cabinet doors open all night & it went down to 82.

I found one in a dollar store last year. Also Ace hdware had hem at the end of the season.

Wow that is a lot of heat, are you sure the thermometer isnt off? I was recently looking for fans myself, the menards by me didnt have them. Let me know if you find some.

My friend just installed MH and his heat went up also. We searched everywhere with no luck. He went to a computer store and purchased a pretty large PC fan that works well, the only thing is you have to buy a power supply and wire it yourself. The whole thing cost like $25. Just thought I would pass it along.

Just came back from the "Big Fan Hunt". None to be found--seasonal item. JR, When was it you saw them at Menards?

first off you need to find out why your tank is running so hot.. if a tank runs above 80 without fans in the winter time you will be in in real danger during the summer should a chiller fail.

I purposely did not want MHs & went w/T5s instead, because I was told they were cooler even than PCs. I have 6 of them in a canopy w/o a fan. I will be installing a fan soon, but can't as long as the acclimation screening is on there.

What is acclimation screening?

I have moved my corals from under 11 month old PC bulbs to much stronger brand new T5 bulbs. This would cause them to shock & bleach, if I didn't put 2 layers of nylon screening over the bulbs. After a week, I will pull one back & after another week, the bulbs can be at full power over the tank. Some of the corals have still responded badly & it may be too late to save them. I'm pretty sure I've lost my blue candycane but the green is happier in the shade now.
