CLOSE CALL!!-Replacement ballast cord???

Thank God my husband was home to find one of the ballast cords smoking. It could have burned my house down with all my animals!!

We just bought this canopy from the person we got the whole tank set up from and the canopy is retrofitted with 6- 96w pc's, what do you call that cord, and where would we get a replacement? I looked on Marine Depot and all I see is the whole ballasts.

The maker of these ballasts was custom sea life, we think they are out of business.

They are the square pin lights and cords.

Does anyone know what would cause the cord to burn like that? It is burned where the pins go in.

just find a new cord with the proper amount of wires and pins for the plug and cut them both off. infact i'd rewire the whole thing if i were you.

you should be able to cut the pc plug end off and get a new one. prob from a retro kit or a electrical shop. as long as the other side of the plug is ok and the cord its self isnt still like its melted inside then your fine. look in retro kits or parts and you should be able to find one.
