Hey guys ang gals....
just finished a closed loop on a 90AG RR tank(had the back drilled with two intakes 1 1//2)
My question is...my pump (aquasea3600sp) makes an awful humming , almost rattling noise...when i give the drains a little air the quiets down to a mere humm....but then i have tons of bubbles in the tank! any suggestions would be appreciated!
p.s. jus fresh in there now for testing :)

I read somewhere for so many inlets you have to have so many outlets...or 1 1/2 pipe turns into a certain amount of outlets or you can have cavitation...would that make the pump act this way?

I'm not saying the pump is bad or that is malfunctioning, I'm jsut saying it's a noisy loud, humming, vibrating pump. That's all. You can try supressing the vibration with some foam or something similar underneath the thing. If you used PVC to plumb everything, that will carry vibrations badly from what I understand as well. Maybe use flex hose instead, but I doubt that woudl make a difference for the pump itself though.

Let me just clarify here, is the rattling/humming definatly coming fromt he pump itself? could the impellar be bad? Cracked? Rattling around? Even with new products, sometimes you get a bad egg off the assembly line. It happens. Aside from dampending the vibrations I'm not to sure what else would work. May wanna run this by the gentlemen in one of the other forums, possibly the advanced forums (maybe even the large tank forum, since those guys deal with alot of plumbing, moreso than alot of newbies do anyways) Just a few ideas.
