closed loop on a timer good or bad?

i have a amp master pump i will be using for my close loop. i was wondering can i put a timer on it so it shuts off at night so ever thing can rest and simulate tidal flow better plus also save on the electric bill alittle. will this hurt the pump?

Won't hurt the pump, starting and stopping it once a day.

i was doing the same thing for a while and now i leave them all on. a lot of corals have the best pe for feeding at night and i think its better to leave them on. jmo.
