Yep take your time.. like our 520.. Even though our tank, stand, sump, two out of five pumps, and 1/2 of the plumbing will be just sitting here across the room from our 330. For the next 3 or more years..

It will be hurting my insides just waiting to set it up.. But, I made a vow.. I will not set it up till I have everything for it.. That doesn't mean I cannot drill, plumb, or water test. HAHA

What controller is that?

P.S. - I use a Hammerhead on my CL and love it. Two 1.5" intakes and five 1" returns in a AGE PVC bottom. Click on the red house if interested in how we did it...

$200 for a $699 controller is still a great deal. :D

haha, Nope not 200.00.. It was to early for me to explain what I was talking about..haha 5:30am

The controller that I'll be getting is a Lighthouse Pro XLS. The controller was 699 on sale for about a year now.. Just had to first take care of the new tank and stand. Now that's about done.. So, I was planning on getting one.. But, I guess the sale ended.. Because now its 899.99.. Arrrr!!!! Always seems to work out that way!!!:mad2:

At least we have good taste in CL and Return pumps... ;)

My tank is half-glass, so to speak. PVC bottom, acrylic euro-bracing - best of all worlds...

Great pumps!!!

I ran through your build real fast before I had to go p/u my little ladies from school.. Nice..

How do you like the large screen you used in one of the pics?

Are all of your outlets on your CL with flow accelerator ?? how do you like them?? Make a difference??

Yes, I like the Hammerhead Golds... surprisingly quiet for such a hefty pump...

I use a Baldor pump on the Reeflo Orca 250 skimmer... that's a lot of "amps" ;)

The flow accelerators really help spread the flow out over a wider area. All five CL returns use them in our 350G DT.

When you asked about the screen, are you talking about the TV? If so, we love it. It's the 67" Samsung LCD. We built the TV & entertainment center into what was previously a "wet bar"...

Stop by the build thread again and say hello sometime! :)

Hi all,

I purchased a used system locally. The tank is 180 gallon and is constructed of glass. The tank when built had a closed loop system installed into it. 2 Intakes and 2 outlets (all 1"). I believe he ran each independently with 2 Iwaki 30RXLT's. He has since cut the lines and capped them off. He now just runs the main return pump and 4 MJ with sureflow mod. I've been pondering over which way to go with the tank once I get it (couple more weeks to moving day)

What are your thoughts? We want to start off slow in terms of corals and fish as we get back into the swing of things but want upgradability should we move more towards SPS.

Also, I'm really wanting a 350-400 gallon DT and would like to keep that in mind if possible during my purchases for this tank. Anything that I can take forward would be great on my wallet!

Two ways I would do it..

One - I'm sure you could try.. I'm the wrong one to ask about glass.. But, try to open those holes up to 11/2 and go on with a CL.. two would be kick A.. Then you can just transfer the pumps right over to whatever tank you are looking at later..

Two - I would at least get the bulk heads up and put ball valves on the backside of them.. So if you want to do a CL later.. They'll be there and you just need to hook up the pump and run it with it..

Hope this helps..

Here is a link to my build, I am installing a CL through the back glass. This may help. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1665021
