Just in case this is helpful.. Switching to Lumenmax Elites would solve your problem. Due to availability, I don't know if I'd recommend VHO's to anyone anymore. I don't have extra endcaps. I'm investigating LED's to see if I can switch to them, but I don't think they have the spread. The nice thing about the SuperActinics is that they have a built in reflector. The top half of the bulb is a reflector and they have great spread already. I have 2 48" ones on my 30" wide 6' long tank and get great coverage. I wish I could get that from LED's!!!

Rumor has it for the past 2-3 years that production of VHO bulbs was banned. Not sure how true this is but ever since I heard this less and less places carry VHO bulbs. I first heard of this from someone who has there own Line of Light bulbs so a pretty creditable source for what it's worth.

How will Lumenmax Elites solve the problem? I thought the supplement lighting would be for a nicer color... or do you mean the problem of the overflow boxes blocking the light?
