closed loop question

have a 30 gallon cube tank that i'm considering adding a chiller to.
want to draw water via a u-tube to the pump, to the chiller, and back to the tank all connected via vinyl tubing.

the pump is not self priming.

question, during a black-out, my concern is the siphon from the tank to the chiller will break and when the electricity returns, the pump will have no water in the vinyl tubing and will be damaged.

is there a way to prevent the siphon from breaking?

thanks.

As long as the water doesnt have a place to go (sump, etc.), water will remain in the lines and your pump might get a spit of air from the utube portion, but should have more than enough water "primed" to continue it's pumping action. Even with power out, the pump below will always have water in it.

Agreed as well. I have the same closed loop setup... u-tube intake ->pump->chiller->u-tube output. Even with the pump off/power loss, water stays in the closed loop so need to prime again.
