Closed Loop w/Dart reeflo

Hi:

I want to set up a closed loop using a Reeflo Dart, the pump will be running two SCWD, I'll apreciate any input.

Thank's

I wouldn't recommend using the SQWDs on a closed loop. My reason is that there won't be any filtration on the loop and the SQWDs are sensitive to sand/grit clogging them.

I've run a SQWD with few problems for years, but the pump that feeds mine is a Mag with a sponge filter on the intake. Once, I removed the sponge and the SQWD stopped working within days.

i'm just setting up a CL w/ 2 scwd's, but am using a Blue Line HD100. I'm testing everything now, and it's working good. I have split the output into 3 3/4" lines w/ 2 going into the scwd's. One of the outputs of one of the scwd's runs an oceans motions revolution also.

I would be concerned that a dart may be a bit much for 2 scwd's though. I think that the most you can put through them (from other's experience) is about 1200 gph.

I previously was running a single scwd off an eheim 1262 and have never had a problem with it i may add.

I have a closed loop on my 125 powered by a dart and it works really well. I designed the CL with 12 outputs with the intentions of using about 8, as it turned out the Dart didn't have nearly enough kick to provide adequate flow to all eight outputs. I currently have 5 outputs coming from the CL and two outputs coming from my sump return. All 7 definitely provide me with some good flow. If I had a seperate fish room however, so that noise wouldn't be an issue, I'd have gone with a hammerhead and actually been able to use (probably) all 12 outputs. HTH!

SQWDs suck and reduce flow way too much. I was getting no more than 400 gph out of a Mag 9.5. You're better off saving some money and getting an Oceans Motions Squirt.

If you're going to be using the dart, I'd go with the OM 4-way, not the squirt or super squirt. The dart makes 3800gph @ 0ft.

they "suck" when you don't have a pump that can handle any head.

Even if you have a high pressure pump, they still only last 3-4 months before they die. I went through three in a year. One of them the impellar fell off the shaft inside, and the other ones just got so caked with calcium deposits that they couldn't be cleaned anymore.

Ive had my SQWD going for 2.5 years now on a CL with no major problems....results always vary;)
