Home from work sick so I rented a 5D mark ii + MP-E 65 mm to try it out while my XSI is getting repaired. I think I'm sold:

Pretty nice, although looks a little noisy on the greens, or is that just the pattern of the polyps?

They have kindof a grainy texture up close, but there is some grain in the shot too. That's at almost 5x, but I had to use 1600 iso until I get some more lights. To contrast, here is the same coral using the 100 mm f2.8 (and under blue LED instead of white like the above shot):
