Cloudy kalk with DI water

Hi Randy, I recently changed my kalk top off water to DI water using the "tap water filter DI system" Now my Kalk water is a slight milky white, even after letting it stand for 24 hours, Before i was using plain tap water and mixing my kalk and my solution was always crystal clear with prepcipate and undissolved kalk at the bottom. I use 1 teaspoon per gallon. I have tried this three times and still get cloudy kalk, I went back to using tap water and it is clear once again.
Any ideas what caused this, and does a sat kalk solution "purify" my top off water by focing everyhting else but Klak out of solution?

I'm not sure why exactly (there are a variety of possibilities), but the stuff in the tap water may have helped the particles to settle faster. I wouldn't worry about it. Many folks find it takes a fair time for it to settle, but IMO if you wait overnight, it is settled enough.

The lime may help purify the tap water some, but using the tap water purifier is probably a good idea (although may be expensive long term).

I've tried a few brands of kalk now and I'm not sure I've ever seen Kalk completely settle in RO/DI water. There always seems to be a very light haze. I've never tried with tap water, but maybe there is a trace of an impurity that reacts with the tap water and then becomes insoluble, but in DI water it does not and remains suspended. That said, I've been using it for years without apparent issue, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it...
