I understand how it looks and the need for intervention growing inside but bacteria has a plan of its own.. I'm sure your uv sterilizer will help you bc you don't have the patience for a cycle which you almost completed .. i think I told you a week and a half you almost made it!

You said on the 11th to do a 1.5 week cycle which i was ahead of by atleast one day so i waited atleast a week and two days say. If i waited one more day your saying it would have been any better. I truthfully dont believe so , i do think if i waited it would have passed just a question of how much longer. With the corals i really diddnt want to risk it with the thought of a uv light in the future

I would like to know how effective the uv is when it comes I am sure it will work pretty fast

For what its worth, the UV should not disrupt your cycle. Nor did it affect mine. I researched this before buying one as it was early on when I made my tank move. Don't worry about killing the beneficial bacteria as a very small percentage of your good bacteria exists in the water column. And what does exist in the water column usually doesn't live long. Most of it resides in the rock, substrate, etc.

Also, just my two cents, when I had this issue, I already had a skimmer. An oversized powerful one at that. So don't expect a skimmer to solve this problem, although I HIGHLY recommend getting one anyway.

Well just over night the tank has already started clearing up. When i looked in the tank long ways before i colpd only see about half way. Today i can see about 6-8 inches further already

Great news! Let it run for about 2 weeks. Then give it a break. I only run mine every now and then. No need to run it continuously. Your water will be crystal clear.

Today i can see clearly across the tank long ways, im going to do as you said and continue to run it for two weeks then stop use.

ii left for florida Thursday and will be back this thursday so we will see if it continues to stay clear

Yes, i havent put the uv light back in since i took it out and the water is still crystal clear.
