OK RO working great.
Put sand in very carefully very very carefully
but still water is very cloudy. Its been years since I set up a new system so I really dont remember it being like this. There is like a white film all over everything.'

I used live sand(real LS) i recevied, also use that "bio live sand" from the LFS (in the bag)
I do remember last time I only used all real live sand not the bag stuff. but real is so much $$$$.
So is there anything I can do?
should have just kept my 90 going this is getting to be such a downer
anyone LMK
Thanks

Oh ya I got the skimmer off pumps on, and a micron bag on the returns but it gets "dirty " like in minutes.

It should settle in a few days, you might want to use a filter sock to catch all the detritus for the time being.

Don't give up!

Sounds totally normal to me. Give it till tomorrow night and I'm sure it'll be alot better. It's very very hard to keep the water from clouding whenever you add sand.

Do you have any rock in there, so the sand grains/dust will be coated and weighed down with bacteria? Bacteria will speed the process.

Thanks everyone rock will go in today, was to late yesterday.
This morning it was pretty clear. I just didnt remember, but my wife (as usual) told me its always like this and I just cant remember anything lol. Looks good tho.
Question about the fuge do you guys put LS in there mine was always rock only ???
thanks guys try to get some pictures today

Some do and some don't.

If you have a large enough(20gal or so) fuge it may be beneficial to have a DSB in the fuge.

Aiko I see you have the G3 I have it also what you think of it?
I only have the gate valve mod any hints on using it?
I have a PM on my other tank and really love it works excellent,
well made.
The G3 seems well kinda "cheaply" made was not impressed by the quality BUT will wait and see how it skims

I'm sure that you'll be pleased with your G3. Should be fine on the tank. Unless you get crazy w/ the bioload. The ASM's are kinda cheaply made but that's what makes 'em so affordable. If they were made with better materials and craftsmenship then it'd be called a EuroReef and you'd be broke after buying it :).

looked at your profile i got out of LPHS when you were born lol
alot of my friends live over by the lake.

I'm on Acacia Lane (right down the street from LPHS East). What year did you graduate? When you say "lake", do you mean the one that Acacia T's at, down that steep hill (think it's a branch of Salt Creek).
