clown advice

Ok I am starting either a 29 gallon or a 40b this week and when the time comes I want to get a pair of clowns. My problem is i have no idea what kind of clowns to get. I like the clarkii and the maroons. So any input on a good type of clown to get would help me out a lot.

Just research my friend. It'll have to be a personal choice, and depends on what you like. Look up clownfish on bing or search the posts right here. Good luck!
We have a 29g with a black & white occ. & are setting up a 90g right now. When we switch tanks I want to get a mate for my clown and am trying to decide what color to get...
oh, one word of advice they get territorial, mine bites, and I've seen them draw blood. The maroon is the most aggresive of them all and gts like 6". So, research!!

Clarkiis and maroons are pretty aggressive fish. If you plan a pair of them in that size tank, they will have to be the sole occupants.

I prefer the Percula clownfish - very easygoing, very hardy. Some are farm raised and better for tank life; and can be kept successfully with other individuals of the same species.

what about tomato's?

Not to get off topic but I moved my DT this weekend. Due to some remodels I'm performing, a Petco 40B is my coral and Tomato housing temporarily until the DT is complete. After transitioning this pair to the new tank, they have responded superbly! They are swimming much more anround the tank and seem generally more happy than ever before in the DT. It may be exploratory behaviour until they settle. I would say your fine with Tomatos in that 40B, but NO OTHER fish as tankmates. Why would you want any fish besides clowns anyway?
