clown/anemone question

I just got a Rose bubble Tip and my maroon clown took right to him. However i am wondering if him/her sitting in the anemone all day will bother or irrate it. I just put it in a few hours ago and the clown wont leave it be. It hasnt even had a chance to fully open up yet. Is there anything i should be worried about?

If it doesn't acclimate to your tank right away you might want to separate it from the clown IMO. Some clown fish can be a little aggressive with their anemone and if it is new or suffering from shipping stress the fish can actually kill it. One thing you can do is take a plastic basket, kind of like the ones they sell strawberries in, and cover the anemone. That will keep the fish out for the time being and still let water and light through. Good luck, hope it makes it!

the anemone is too big for a little basket like you are tlaking about. Ill put a pic up of it for you to see and tell me what you think. And yes in the pics that i just too kthe anemone is upside down. he was crawling up the back wall and just decided to let go.

Your maroon does not look very big. Just leave it as is and It'll attach by itself.. It should open up after a few minutes

Yeah, looks like a classic case of maroon clown anemone molestation. It'll probably eventually settle and attach, but you'll want to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't end up in an overflow or powerhead intake. Unattached anemones are a disaster waiting to happen.

i turned off the powerheads and only have the overflows and the returns going. He is not very happy looking. he has attached a few times and released. I got him from a fish store that i know has terrible conditions. He was the last of them and looked good there. I hate going to the shady places i feel horrible about the fish there.

Will the clown kill him? Should i take the clown out? Has anyone ever had a clown kill a anemone because he was to agresive towards it? I have always wanted a RBT and finally got one and i dont want my clown to kill it. There was a mated pair of maroon clowns hosting it at the fish store where i got it. But he has been in the tank for about 5 hours and hasnt settled. Here are a few more pics.

I'm sure it will be fine as long as your water parameters and lighting are adequate.

Is it at all possible that, that nem was dyed? It looks almost too vibrant. Otherwise, a very nice looking specimen.

i dont know. I hope not. it sure isnt looking to happy. I took the clown out and put him in the sump. The anemone is just looking like a large blob. THe lights are off now. Ill see how he looks in the morning. On a side note, i feel bad for the clown. He looks sad down there.

Jetcat Have you heard of a over agressive Clown before? And if so what should i do? Get rid of the clown?

No, keep the clown. Give the anemone a week to acclimate to your tank and try feeding it in a couple of days. A small piece of silverside. Make sure you have enough lighting for him and water parameters are in check and he should do fine. Once settled in put the clown back in the tank and they will be a happy pair...

Yes, allot of clowns are aggressive when it comes to their nem, with the clown temporarily retained let the nem have an opportunity to acclimate. move the clown to another tank or the sump for a week or two then when the nem is fully expanded put it back, shouldn't be a problem then.

Mine was very aggressive when I first put my BTA in. The first day I had it though I turned the lights off and let him settle in my tank. The next morning he looked like the "blob" but after the lights were on for a few hours he went right back to normal and the maroon didn't bother him that much after that.

I turned on the lights this morning and he has a huge gaping mouth, he is deflated and he looks like death. There was a thread a while back of someone with a GBTA that looked the same as mine. I tired to search for it, but the search function isnt working. He is not looking good at all.
